HERITAGE

'CACO'

According to the Old Testament, Bolo do caco was a popular bread baked by the Hebrews. As the story goes, this bread ceased to exist for centuries. In the late 19th century, it was reborn in the Island of Porto Santo in Madeira. This iconic dish of Portugal is conquering the world of gourmet kitchens. It is beautifully and simply made by hand with love, sweet potato flour, sea salt and water.

'PONCHA'

Poncha is origanaly an Indian drink that was brought to Europe by the British and finally adapted by Madeirans. It is believed that Poncha was tasted for the first time outside India on Madeira Island in the mid-eighteenth century by the English, during their travels between those parts. The drink is made of five ingredients: Rice or nut coconut spirit, sugar, fresh herb tea, spices and water.
